One year after the initial workshop Uganda Badminton Association organised the first National Para-Badminton Championships. An impressive number of 30 players, among them four women, competed in the different classes for people with impairments. This is the biggest number of players ever scored in Africa and demonstrates again the leading role of Uganda in this sport.

In para-badminton players start in different sport classes depending on their impairments. These are Wheelchair 1, Wheelchair 2 (WH1 and WH2), Standing Lower 3 and Standing Lower 4  (SL3 and SL4, for impairments in the lower limbs), Standing Upper 5 (SU5, for impairments in the upper limbs) and Short Stature 6 (SS6). For this tournament the classes Wheelchair 1 and 2 were combined as well as the classes SL3 and 4 in women's singles.

Out of the 30 players six registered for Men's Singles Wheelchair (MS WH), 11 for Men's Singles SL3, 6 for Men's Singles SL4, three for Men's Singles SU5, four for Women's Singles SL3&4, eight for Men's Doubles SL3 and six for Men's Doubles SL4. All players were interviewed and watched while on court by classifier Dr. Patrick Turyaguma.

After having played 56 matches in total the lucky winners were awarded trophies. Those were
