BARFOOT & THOMPSON BWF WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020 RESCHEDULED TO JANUARY 2021
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) today announced the new dates for the BARFOOT & THOMPSON BWF World Junior Championships 2020, which were scheduled to be held in Auckland, New Zealand in September this year.
The rescheduled dates for the world event are 11-24 January 2021. Only those athletes eligible for the originally scheduled championships will be allowed to enter.

Dear Athletes,
As you know, the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic has continued to evolve into a health and societal emergency that has called for effective and immediate action by all of us around the world to minimize the likelihood of transmission and the impact on society. The situation clearly goes well beyond anti-doping and sport with most countries having put measures in place that include border closures, quarantine/self-isolation, cancellation of flights, social movement restrictions, etc.
BWF ANNOUNCES UPDATED QUALIFYING REGULATIONS FOR OLYMPIC AND PARALYMPIC GAMES
Following last week’s announcement of a revamped tournament calendar for 2020, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) can outline the updated qualifying regulations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled to take place in Tokyo next year.
The priority was to ensure a fair solution to the disrupted qualification system in order to qualify players for the postponed Games. Both the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and International Paralympic Committee (IPC) have approved the amendments.
WELLNESS AND HEALTH IN SPORTS: DURING AND POST COVID-19’
The National Council of Sports (NCS) in conjunction with the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC)/ Commonwealth Games Association of Uganda (CGAU) on Saturday 23 May 2020, hosted an online zoom engagement that featured a panel discussion on the topic, ‘ Wellness and Health in Sports: During and Post COVID-19.’ A panel of eminent medical practitioners and sports administrators from Uganda and abroad discussed this topic.
