The second edition of the Kabaka’s 33rd Coronation Badminton tournament was officially launched at Bulange, Mengo in Kampala on Wednesday, 15th July 2026.

This launch was executed by Oweek. Robert Serwanga Salongo, the Buganda Kingdom minister of sports, arts and youth, who was flanked by officials from Badminton Uganda and some players.

This tournament is scheduled to take place between 17th-19 July at CFK Badminton Academy in Kampala.

Simon Mugabi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Badminton Uganda has confirmed that over 450 participants have registered expecting the numbers to go up to 800.

So far we have registered over 450 athletes online but we expect the numbers to go upto 800 in all categories, special appreciation to the Minister and the Kingdom for giving us an opportunity to be part of the Kabaka’s Coronation celebrations.

Oweek. Serwanga called up on willing sponsors and partners to come and be part of the game,

From 410 who participated last year to the  450 already registered by thus time l am certain the numbers will get up to 800 as expected, there is hope of growth I call up on able sponsors to come and join us in the historical celebrations it’s a tournament where all age group categories are to take part,”

The tournament will climax on Sunday, 19th July 2026 with awards and trophies presentation.
